How to get a Library Card
A library card is available free of charge to individuals
who show proof that they live within our service area.
Please come to the Library's main desk in the lobby or apply online here.
Library lobby hours:
Monday - Thursday: 9am - 7:30pm
Friday - Saturday: 10am - 5pm
Temporary Library card holders and individuals interested in a new Library card,
bring in photo identification and proof of residency.
Acceptable proof of residency:

Drivers license or State ID with a local address

City or township tax bill

Lease agreement

Utility bill with a local address - power, water, cable
The cardholder is responsible for all library materials checked out. Cardholders must report lost or stolen library cards to the Checkout Desk, 989-837-3457. Change of name, address, phone number, or email address should be reported to the Checkout Desk. Minors (under 18 years old) must have a parent or legal guardian present and sign the application to obtain a card. Parents or legal guardians who sign for a minor are responsible for all items that minor checks out.

Non-residents
If you do not live in an area that pays taxes to fund the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library:
A one-year membership to all the materials, electronic resources and databases is available for $125 (per household). The cost of a library card increased in January 2020 to better match what legal service area residents pay in taxes.
Library Account Renewal Policy - Verifying Patron Information
To ensure our records are accurate and that all taxpayers and library patrons have the best access to our resources, the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library requires account information to be updated every two years.

What Happens if You Don’t Renew
Library accounts that are not updated will be temporarily paused until verification is completed.
